Arsenal squad, is it enough?

After the signing of Amaury Bischoff I am lead to believe that Arsenal’s shopping is over for the season, barring some last minute hoopla with Ade…which doesn’t seem likely with both Milan and Barca cooling off.

So guess what, I would take a shot at the formation of the current squad.

First Choice XI

              Manuel Almunia

Bacary Sagna——Kolo Toure——William Gallas——Gael Clichy

Thomas Rosicky——Cesc Fabregas——Denilson——Samir Nasri

          Robin Van Persie——Emanuel Adebayor

I won’t try and finalize the second string, which was the initial thought, but would specify the backup options for each position

 

Keepers – Fabianski and Mannone

Right Back – Eboue, Hoyte

Left Back – Traore, Gallas

Center Back – Djourou, Senderos and Song

Right Wing – Walcott, Eboue, Wilshere

Left Wing – Rosicky, Walcott, Traore, Wilshere

Center Midfield – Ramsey, Diaby, Song, Bischoff, Eboue

Strikers – Bendtner, Vela, Eduardo, Walcott, Simpson.

Based on sheer numbers the team is fine. Based on quality and cohesion, I am not happy about the keeper, the central defensive pairing and the partner for Fabregas.

From a backup point of view, Clichy needs a better backup as Traore is showing all the signs of moving further up the pitch to the left wing. And when the best midfield pairing in the absence of Fabregas is a 17 year old Ramsey and 20 year old Denilson, then you got to think again. It’s worrying when Eboue plays for you as a Central or right midfielder for the team.
